Mr William Wei is currently a Principal Consultant/Advisor, advising clients on energy system strategy, regulatory matters, renewable market research and new tech.

He is also the Assistant Director at the Australian Energy Regulator, a government agency overseeing energy markets and networks. He was responsible for regulatory assessment, economic and energy policy development for energy regulation and work closely with AEMC and AEMO. He led and completed multiple vital regulatory determinations in energy infrastructure over $20 billion and asset management.

He was a Senior Market Forecast manager at Origin Energy Australia, the biggest Australian energy company. He was responsible for energy market trading, forecasting and modelling to support strategic planning and trading operations. He specialised in gas and electricity markets and worked with Origin Loop VPP and the Kraken platform. Origin is one of Australia's leading energy companies, supplying energy to over 4 million customer accounts. It holds the largest gas production in APLNG QLD and other states.

Previously, he worked at TransGrid, the largest electricity transmission company. He managed transmission assets and investment planning. He also worked at Essential Energy distribution network asset management, contributing to DER projects, research and operational models. He also worked with medium-sized energy retailers (wholesale operation and CI contracting) and renewable BESS project developers (project origination, approval to delivery).
