    Context

    Co-founder and CTO of an online trading platform. I managed the product from end to end, from technical design to deployment and operation.

    Development

    I designed and developed the entire platform: Django backend with Celery asynchronous processing, Vue.js frontend, PostgreSQL database, Redis cache and stream, and Kafka event streaming for real-time data processing. The transactional nature of the application (real financial operations) imposed strict requirements for availability, consistency, and security. Therefore, I also ensured maximum test coverage to prevent any side effects during update deployments.

    Infrastructure

    I operated a managed Kubernetes cluster and the entire deployment chain in GitOps: ArgoCD, Kustomize, and External Secrets for secret management. I implemented comprehensive observability via Datadog (metrics, logs, alerting) for platform monitoring in production.

    Industrialization of Bioinformatics Pipelines

    Within an international team of developers and bioinformaticians, I contributed to the definition and implementation of a unified development framework for all bioinformatics processes written in Python and used in genetic sequencing pipelines.

    I also implemented Nextflow pipelines responsible for orchestrating the application of these processes on thousands of samples in parallel, and integrated them with AWS Batch / AWS S3.

    Creation of Bioinformatics Services

    I also developed new bioinformatics services that needed to integrate with an existing platform synchronously, via REST APIs, but also asynchronously via Kafka messages (Consumer and Producer).
    The deployment target was Kubernetes, so I also wrote the various necessary templates/resources (Dockerfile, kustomize, docker-compose for dev environments).
    As these services could also be used standalone by bioinformaticians, they also offered a CLI for easy use on local machines, as well as in pipeline processes.

    Takeover of Microbiology Applications

    I also participated in the takeover of several Django applications to perform various maintenance tasks as well as evolutions to enable significant scaling, both in terms of users and samples to be processed.

The project was carried out as part of a "T&M" mission aimed at strengthening and evolving Python software components. The work covered needs analysis, software feature development, evolutionary and corrective maintenance, as well as contributing to the overall quality of the code and deliverables. The expected deliverables were provided in accordance with the defined scope, with regular communication throughout the project. Discussions allowed for effective alignment of priorities, anticipation of blocking points, and adjustment of work as needed. Collaboration with internal teams was fluid, taking into account the technical and organizational constraints of the project.
