Valérie Genest

I have been a freelance art director/graphic designer, primarily in print, since March 2019. I had previously worked in this capacity for several years before joining Tennis Magazine as Art Director in October 2015. I created and designed the new format of the magazine launched in May 2016. I was responsible for the art direction, layout, and all iconography – including selecting external service providers such as illustrators and photographers – in liaison with the editorial team, sales, and marketing departments. I also created various banners and visuals for the magazine's digital activities.

Previously, I worked for a long time in agencies and publishing studios. This experience allowed me to master the entire graphic chain, all its trades, and the relevant software: Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

I have worked on all types of products, in very different fields, from sports to luxury, including fashion and travel, in publishing, advertising, and event management (notably for Roland-Garros). Numerous and varied collaborations have nourished my naturally creative spirit and curiosity, and have given me the opportunity to manage multiple projects, lead teams, and propose solutions to problems.

They have also allowed me to integrate and know how to "compose" with the unforeseen circumstances of project progress: brief changes, urgent deadlines, etc. From my corporate experience, I have retained the ability to work in a collective environment, to listen to an editorial line and a brief, while being perfectly autonomous.

I am naturally curious and always on the lookout for new trends. I recently enhanced my skills with training in photography (studio, reportage).
