Ulrich Sourou

As President of Hirondelle Club Benin, I hold a responsibility that is strategic, institutional, and deeply human. My role is not limited to coordinating an organization; it involves carrying a clear vision for the defense of LGBT rights in Benin and across the African continent. Through my commitment, I work to promote equality, dignity, and respect for sexual and gender diversity.

With my team, I define the organization's strategic directions. Together, we design and implement projects that address the real needs of the community through human rights awareness, training, advocacy, community support, and the creation of safe spaces for community members who are victims of gender-based violence or rejected by their families. I ensure that each of our actions is consistent with our values and mission.

From 2019 to 2023, I served as the Coordinator of the Northern Benin Hub within Hirondelle Club Benin, where I led major actions in favor of LGBT rights. In this role, I coordinated regional activities, implemented human rights awareness and education projects, and monitored community initiatives despite the sensitive context of the Northern Benin region, where it is difficult to even discuss issues related to feminism, let alone sexual and gender minorities.
