- Specialisation in Architectural and Landscape HeritageUniversità degli Studi di Genova2024Field of study: Conservation of Architectural Heritage Thesis: Former Military Airport “E. Mossi”, Novi Ligure (AL). Restoration and Adaptive Reuse Project The thesis focuses on the former Military Airport “E. Mossi” in Novi Ligure, a complex of buildings constructed in the 1930s in the Rationalist style. The runway is still in use today, while most of the military buildings have been abandoned since the 1990s. The project focuses on the former barracks, a three-storey structure with a reinforced concrete frame of beams and pillars, and proposes a comprehensive regeneration project for the entire area, which is redesigned as a public park. The buildings are to be restored and assigned new functions related to aviation and airport activities, with the barracks intended to become the new headquarters of the flight training centre. The main methodological challenges concern the deterioration processes affecting reinforced-concrete structures and the adaptive reuse of military facilities through functions compatible with the peaceful dynamics of the contemporary city.
