Design and development of AssistEvent, a web platform for real-time audio description, transcription, and translation intendedto make live events(conferences, plenaries, meetings)accessible to people with disabilities.

The real-time core is based on self-hosted LiveKit (WebRTC): audio capture from one or more speakers and low-latency broadcasting to a large number of listeners, with an architecture designed to support high-audience rooms and multiple events in parallel. The audio stream feeds a speech recognition engine (EU endpoint, multilingual transcription < 300 ms) then a translation layer, all displayed live on the spectator side.

The frontend was developed in Next.js and deployed on Vercel: session administration interface, real-time caption player, and edge functions for managing LiveKit webhooks and authentication.
Supabase provides the business database (rooms, sessions, languages) as well as user and access management.
n8n orchestrates automations around the session lifecycle: provisioning, notifications, and post-event processing (exports, reports).

The entire system was designed with accessibility in mind, compliant with RGAA requirements, with the possibility of integrating human transcription sources (stenography) and a sign language interpretation stream in addition to automatic transcription.
