About Tashunka Baptiste

Alpha reading / Beta reading:

Have you written a text and are looking for sensitive, honest, and human feedback to improve it without altering your writing style? That's what I offer.

Let's work together to elevate your writing!
My work method is unique: I immerse myself completely in your text. This allows me to provide attentive and empathetic reading, focusing on the feeling and sincerity of the narrative.
Following this reading, I will provide a precise and honest report that will enable you to rework your manuscript effectively.

Thealpha readinginvolves working on a raw or in-progress text.

Thebeta readingis for a more polished text, generally a near-final version. I put myself in the shoes of the future reader: pacing, immersion, emotion, overall coherence, points of boredom or confusion. This feedback is close to the final reading experience.

Ghostwriting:

Do you want to write a letter, a speech, website content... but the words won't come or you lack the time? I can write impactful texts for you that suit you and express what you wish to communicate.

This service is for short texts, under 5,000 words. We'll discuss what you want to convey, the story, information, and emotion you hold, then I'll put my pen at your service to give substance to a text, respecting your intention.

About me:

A writer-adventurer, a lover of the French language, its subtleties, and its strength, I've learned through my travels around the world what an incredible tool writing is—allowing us to express our stories, our thoughts, our emotions...

Looking forward to reading you and working with you.

    CULTURE
    February 2011 - Today (15 years and 6 months)
    Saint-Claude, France
Writer, filmmaker, and adventurer, I live and travel in nature throughout the year. I am passionate about the vast wild spaces of the North (Siberia, Lapland, pre-polar Urals) which I have been exploring for over fifteen years.
From these adventures were born: a short story, a bilingual French-Czech book, several documentary films (including one for French television), as well as numerous public speaking engagements since 2011 in France, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the Czech Republic.

I have a deep love for the French language and for authors who know how to make it resonate with reality: Blaise Cendrars, Jean Giono, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Jim Harrison...
It is these voices that have shaped my way of writing and reading—an attention paid to the rhythm of sentences as much as to sincerity and poetry.

Since my first solo travels, I have been writing. This long-term writing practice has taught me to construct a narrative, find the right rhythm, and above all, to convey emotions.
I am now turning towards supporting other writers—alpha reading, beta reading, sensitive feedback—to put this sensitivity at the service of their texts.

    Berëzovo, Russia
Since 2009, about fifteen expeditions and prolonged immersions in wild environments, mainly in the Far North (Russia, Urals, Siberia, Scandinavia, Lapland), based on self-sufficient living, fishing, foraging, and primitive living techniques.

2009–2010: One-year horseback journey (3,500 km) between France and Spain, living in nature, diet based on edible wild plants.

2011–2012: First long solo journey across wild Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia), then Russia and the Ural Mountains. Several months spent at the Shad Tchup Ling monastery, on Mount Kachkanar.

2012–2020: Founder of Vivre la Forêt (France) — over 50 guided group immersions over eight years (Massif Central, Alps, Jura, Corsica), focusing on wild plants, bivouacking, and self-sufficient living in nature.

2013–2015: Winter snowshoeing expedition in Finland (Pallas–Yllästunturi National Park). Journeys in Russia (Leningrad Oblast, Karelia) and the beginning of a "Russian life" shared for over five years. Immersion in Estonia (fishing, foraging). Living with Pomor fishing communities near the White Sea.

2016–2019: Four successive expeditions in the pre-polar Urals — summer and winter crossings, canoe descent to the Arctic Ocean, stay with reindeer herders — and three consecutive winter group immersions in Finnish Lapland (fishing, building natural shelters). Construction of a traditional log cabin in the Haut-Jura, using an axe and hand tools.

2020–2023: Expeditions in Norway and Swedish Lapland (fishing, foraging, self-sufficient subsistence), three-month immersion in Scandinavia, ski expedition in Lapland. Journey in Yamal (Russia) and living with Khanty reindeer herders, as part of a family.
