Sofia Carla A.

I am a Biochemist with a focus on Immunology (FCQ-UNC, 2018) and a doctoral student in Chemical Sciences at the same faculty, conducting my thesis in the Innate Immunity to Fungal Pathogens Laboratory (CIBICI-CONICET). Currently, I am in the final stage of defense.

My research focuses on the immunology of fungal infections, integrating experimental approaches with data analysis. I study the role of Beta Defensins in the pathogenesis of infections in the female genital tract. In addition, I am part of the Translational Research Group in Immunology and Mycology (RGIM), with more than 13 years of experience in the study of mucosal and systemic fungal pathologies, with clinical and epidemiological impact.

For the past three years, I have also specialized in Data Science, seeking to enhance biomedical research through efficient data analysis. I am currently pursuing a University Diploma in Data Science, along with additional training in the area.

In the academic field, I am a undergraduate professor in Immunology (FCQ-UNC) and participate in postgraduate workshops on fungal infections. I have also collaborated in the training of human resources, as a co-tutor of doctoral fellows, specialist biochemists and undergraduate students, in topics related to mycology and data intelligence.

I have actively participated in congresses, courses and interdisciplinary projects, strengthening my teamwork and scientific production skills. I also collaborate in publications in high-impact journals, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in immunology and mycology.
