I’m a Freelance DevOps / SRE Engineer with over 10 years of hands-on experience building, migrating, and operating large-scale platforms.

My background spans everything from hosting and consultancy to senior SRE and engineering management roles. Over the years I’ve designed and operated cloud and on-prem platforms, implemented secret management at scale, built CI/CD systems, led cloud migrations, and improved reliability, observability, and developer experience.

After a couple of years in management I returned fully to hands-on engineering and now support teams as an independent consultant.

I implemented Hashicorp Vault and integrated it with the Gitlab CI pipelines, Kubernetes and Ansible.
I played a role in improving the agile processes (Scrum SAFE) in the team. As a former Engineering manager I had good insights into what was working and what wasn’t.
I setup the initial version of the monitoring stack using prometheus and alert manager to push alerts to a Mattermost channel. This gave us more visibility in what components were having issues that needed to be looked into.
I refactored the Ansible codebase which resulted in less complexity.
I refactored the Flux CD repo to reduce duplication and introduce standards that allowed for better readability and contribution to the codebase.

I was a Senior engineering manager for the First Party Advertising tribe. I oversaw 3 teams with a mix of Backend/Frontend/SRE engineers (around 25 people total) and worked closely with several product managers while keeping the product manager role for the platform team.
I successfully completed a 2 year cloud migration project where I was responsible for the technical vision spanning the entire product. Focus area’s: Up-skilling engineers, Splitting the project in understandable roadmap items, Budgeting our public cloud costs, Stakeholder management.
I set the technical direction to move away from traditional config management towards Golden Images
I set the technical direction for our terraform repository. The setup we had was a single run that managed all the infrastructure but the runs were long and the impact area was big. This changed to smaller and contained runs.
I Implemented a initiative based way of working with a clearer focus on outcomes and creating a project lead role
I still jumped in on incidents and minor technical work when I had time to keep my skills sharp
