Xylowatt is a startup that emerged from a spin-off of UCL (Louvain-La-Neuve). They invented a revolutionary and patented industrial process to produce synthetic biogas from wood waste (biomass) and based on a gasification process.

 CONTEXT OF THE PROJECT:

Xylowatt built a new unit for the Mont-Godinne Hospital (in Yvoir). The long-term objective was to feed the hospital's existing gas engine with biogas to supply the hospital's various buildings with electricity, heat, and cold (trigeneration).

ECV (Eiffage group) was responsible for delivering the control system (electricity + automation).

 ACHIEVEMENTS:

My main tasks were to:

• Follow-up of the integrator (ECV Etelsys division of Eiffage group)

• Software development follow-up

• Commissioning follow-up

• Coordination between internal teams, engineering office, vendor (integrator), and suppliers

• Change requirement management from solution to implementation (automation/electricity)

• Support process engineers (Ops team) and pilots

• Reporting to the Head of Engineering

Project: Construction of a gas plant supplying the Mont-Godinne hospital with electricity, hot, and cold water.

The gas is a synthetic gas generated from biomass gasification and conditioned before being sent to a combined heat and power engine.
