Romain Rudent

I am Romain, a computer engineer from UTT (Troyes) and co-founder of V-Lock — a startup that designs and manufactures connected, solar-powered, keyless bicycle parking stations, now deployed in several cities including Troyes (400+ active users).

By building V-Lock from scratch, I had to take on the full CTO role: hardware design (nRF52840 PCB, BLE, embedded sensors, ultra-low power management on solar energy), firmware development, web architecture (React, Next.js, APIs), product roadmap management, and liaising with local authorities and industrial partners like BPI France.

What I offer as a fractional CTO is this same end-to-end vision — from sensor to user interface — for startups or SMEs that have a strong idea but not yet a technical direction.

Specifically, I can help with:

• Choosing the product stack and architecture (avoiding the mistakes I've made and seen others make)

• Structuring the technical roadmap aligned with your business goals

• Recruiting and mentoring the first developers

• Technical preparation for fundraising (due diligence, architecture documentation)

• Operational development if necessary (I still code)

I am particularly comfortable with projects where the product has a physical or connected component (IoT, hardware, mobility, energy, smart city), but I also work on complex SaaS and web applications.

Based in Grand Est (Troyes), I can easily travel to Reims, Strasbourg, Nancy, Metz, and I work fully remotely if needed.

Available for 1 to 2 days per week alongside my work at V-Lock.
