About René

Backend and AI engineer with 8+ years of professional experience building production systems in
regulated, large-scale environments.

I started my career at Deutsche Telekom (apprenticeship in IT systems) and spent three years at
eMundo GmbH engineering microservices for Deutsche Bahn's railway data infrastructure:
Java/Micronaut services running on multi-cluster Kubernetes setups in AWS, streaming telemetry data
through Kafka pipelines, monitored with Grafana and Prometheus. The systems I built there measure
and improve the reliability of train schedule displays across Germany.

At DB Systel I worked on the EBuLa migration (Electronic Train Schedule System), building Java
Spring backends and Next.js frontends within a microservice architecture for one of Germany's most
critical transportation systems.

Since then I've focused on AI/LLM integration and Python backend engineering. What I bring to
projects:

End-to-end ownership. I don't hand off half-finished work. I architect, implement, test, deploy, and
monitor. My open-source SFTP client has 2,000+ automated tests across 68 test files, covering every
module from transfer engine to UI. That's not a demo project, that's how I build software.

Test-driven, production-grade code. I write comprehensive test suites because I've seen what happens
in large systems when you don't. Unit tests, integration tests, headless UI tests. If it ships,
it's tested.

AI agent systems. I design and build autonomous LLM-based pipelines: task orchestration, ephemeral
cloud infrastructure, structured output collection, cost tracking. Actual systems engineering around language models.
Clean separation of concerns. Business logic stays framework-free and independently testable.
Infrastructure stays declarative and reproducible. Code stays readable for the next engineer.
Kubernetes, AWS, Hetzner Cloud, Terraform, Rust.
Hybrid or remote. Flexible on project length.
