About Rémi

Developer, Tech Lead, Proxy PO. I wear the necessary hats to achieve my goal. What goal? To focus on the environmental and societal impact of the applications I participate in. Efficiency, user experience, accessibility for all, simplicity. It's no longer time to produce applications that call for a frantic race to renew hardware. The user changes because "it's slow". I say stop. Let's return to applications for everyone, and work towards hardware longevity.

My skills:
- Front-end/back-end development (mainly in the Javascript/Typescript ecosystem), business or technical
- Leading/Mentoring a development team
- Technical direction of a project (definition of technical topics, backlog management...)
- DevOps (CI/CD, automation, ...)
- Cloud (Kubernetes) from a developer's perspective
- Accessibility
- Security
- Documentation (architecture, user guides, best practices, procedures, facilitation...)

Experience

  • Decathlon
    Tech Lead Front-end
    SPORTS
    June 2019 - February 2023 (3 years and 8 months)
    Croix, France
Decathlon wanted to promote a single account across its entire ecosystem (e-commerce, sports activities, etc.). The creation of a central customer account management application (by the customer themselves) was decided, much like Google Account. This central application was intended to allow Decathlon customers to manage all their personal data with complete confidence and transparency in a centralized manner, instead of having to manage it in each interaction with the company's ecosystem.

My mission was therefore to produce the first lines of code in 2019, until reaching in 2023 an international application (about sixty countries supported). Among the important elements entrusted to me:
    - Business and technical development
    - Leading and coaching the technical team (up to 5 developers and 1 QA)
    - Technical direction of the application (determining technical priorities, managing the backlog in tandem with the Project Manager...)
    - Key technical-functional contact point
    - DevOps (CI/CD, multi-cloud hosting)
    - User and application data security (coordination with annual audits, Bug Bounty, dependency maintenance...)
    - Living documentation (architecture, best practices, procedures, post-mortems...)
    - Production monitoring and support
    - Semi-autonomous performance optimization
    - Accessibility groundwork

Development of an MVP, Web Application + API
    HEALTH AND WELLNESS
    January 2019 - May 2019 (4 months)
    Loos, France
I developed an MVP from scratch for an application + API in the healthcare sector (emergency team intervention methods). The application's pitch is to save precious minutes between a person's call to the emergency services center and their arrival at the hospital emergency room. The application was developed in Ruby-on-Rails, Stimulus.js, Webpacker. It has a WEB interface and an API available for its associated native Android application.

  • Axomove
    Ruby-on-Rails Tech Lead
    MEDICAL
    August 2018 - January 2019 (4 months)
    Loos, France
I joined Axomove as a reinforcement to give a boost towards the commercialization of their application.

During the audit of this application, I identified key areas for improving the application's performance. The loading time for some pages was up to ten seconds on a good quality ethernet connection. Now, these pages load in almost two seconds, even on a slow 3G connection.

The application also needed to be cleaned up to ensure better future scalability. Thanks to this action, the development time for subsequent features was reduced.

I brought knowledge on test automation, allowing Axomove to move from an occasional production deployment rhythm to several times a week, without fear of major regressions.

I took advantage of this mission to share knowledge with Axomove's CTO, to help him better understand the workings of the Web and to increase efficiency.
