About Rémi

Senior IT Consultant | Microsoft Specialist & SI Architect | Insurance and Financial Services

Present on Malt since 2018.

Engineer specialized in Microsoft technologies since 2010, and graduated engineer in information systems and networks in 2013, I undertake software engineering missions using .NET technologies.

My preferred areas are business/back-end processing, data modeling, data access processing, SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) distributed applications, WebServices, REST APIs, SOAP. Perfectly proficient in .NET technologies, I am comfortable with the entire .NET ecosystem (including its new features): C#, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Core, dependency injection, EntityFramework, TDD.

The business sectors in which I have recently worked are mainly insurance products (Groupama, Carac), and Private Equity (Ardian).
Having worked on very long-term applications in production (> 10 years at Carac, > 20 years at Bull), I pay close attention to the quality of the code delivered. That is to say, delivering structured and well-maintained code that can be easily maintained in the future. I have been able to apply my skills and techniques on "greenfield" projects, developed from scratch, which are still in production today and add significant value for the clients concerned.

Since January 2018, I have been offering my services through my company Nardis.

Passionate about IT and its history, I spend my free time documenting myself or working on other projects and topics related to IT systems: Linux, UNIX, open-source, embedded systems, OS design, real-time systems, industrial computing, microcontrollers, signal processing, etc.

    Lead Developer - C# .NET Engineer, Back-end
    BANKING AND INSURANCE
    April 2022 - February 2025 (2 years and 10 months)
    Paris, France
    Project:
Within Ardian's IT department, development of a "greenfield" data aggregator, followed by a migration to the Microsoft cloud (team of 6 people).

    Context and functional objectives:
In early 2022, operational staff wanted a tool to better understand markets and identify new opportunities. The Datafeed project was created to meet this need. Data supply contracts were signed (Capital IQ, Pitchbook, CFNews, Diane) to obtain administrative, financial, transaction, and contact data, etc. After preprocessing by fuzzy matching, this data is then aggregated and arbitrated by Datafeed and enriches the CRM of Ardian's expertise areas (Co-Investment, Growth, Leveraged Buyout) via Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Activities within the scope of the mission:
    Datafeed Solution Development:
    • Design of the "greenfield" architecture
    • Supervision of 2 developers on the project
    • Integration with internal tools (fuzzy matching, Dynamics 365)

Migration to Azure Cloud (Summer 2023):
    • Management and implementation of the solution migration
    • Containerization with Docker
    • Setup of build and deployment pipelines (containers and dacpac scripts)

    Environment
    Technical:
    • Back-end: C# .NET 8.0, Entity Framework 8
    • Front-end: Angular 18, PrimeNG, Yarn

    • Testing: NUnit 4, Moq 4, FakeItEasy 8
    • Integration with Dynamics 365 via OData

    • On-premise: SQL Server 2019, Windows Server 2019
    • Cloud: Docker (Ubuntu images), Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure App Service, Azure Static Web App, Azure App Registration

    Project Management Methodology: Scrum SAFe
Version Control: Git (Azure DevOps, GitHub)
CI/CD: Azure Pipelines (YAML) for full build (API, front-end, SQL), Docker image creation, and full deployment (including dacpac)

Project: Redesign of a production chain for data integration, BI processing, and generation of personalized and interactive reports. Primarily back-end mission. (team of 4 people)

    Context and functional objectives
The client wishes to modernize its production chain, which has been developed over the past 15 years. This requires studying the existing system, designing appropriate workflows, and conducting technological watch. Technically, the mission involves several interesting challenges, particularly related to the very large volume of data to be processed (e.g., magnitude of some tables: 10 million rows). Significant technical study was done on integrating Entity Framework in this context (bulk operations). This mission requires autonomous work and good organization, and adapting to strong budgetary and technical constraints, especially due to the high investment cost for a company of this size.

Activity within the scope of the mission
Development of a new production chain:
    • Complete rewrite of production tools
    • Maintenance and adaptation of existing tools
    • Feasibility studies on proposed technical solutions
    • Writing specialized ADO.NET drivers
    • Interfacing with BI solutions implemented in the company: Power BI, SSAS
Technical evaluation of candidates during job interviews.

    Environment
    Technical:
    • Visual Studio 2019 Professional

    • C# 8, .NET 4.8
    • Windows Server, T-SQL
    • SQL Server, SQL Server Maintenance Plan
    • Power BI
    • Entity Framework (including bulk operations)
    • DevExpress Framework
    • ADO.NET

    Software Quality:
    • Git
    • Azure DevOps
    • Azure Pipelines
C# SQL Server Entity Framework BI ADO.NET .NET
