ThyssenKrupp Elevator AG had a Global Executive Committee with all 6 Business Units represented. I was first a member in my role as CEO of the BU Escalator / Passenger Boarding Bridges (ES/PBB) and later as CEO of South Europe Africa MiddleEast (SEAME)

I was leading the Elevator Business of ThyssenKrupp for South Europe Africa and Middle East with an approximate sales of 1,5bn€ and 7.500 FTEs. The geographic area had responsibility over Iberia, Italy, Greece, Rumania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Middle East and Africa with the addition of Pakistan.

This period included the effects of the 2008 crisis and its effect over the business model for elevator under a significant volume reduction.

The service business maintained a significant performance level while the restructuring of the new installation business was underway.

The competitive scenario after the crisis changed to having more asian competitors in the market, a need for a significant change in supply chain and manufacturing footprint was implemented.

Spain suffered a deep crisis in the construction industry during this pediod, the number of buildings under construction dropped significantly and there was a need to re-balance between New installation business and Service business. After all the transformation implemented, Spain maintained its leadership as the best performing operation within TKE worldwide
