About Rachid

Born in the Atlas Mountains, raised in the Alps, and forged my youth in the Pyrenees, I am a man of passages and borders – geographical, cultural, and intellectual. Each stage of my journey has shaped my perspective and deepened my understanding of contemporary societies. It is in this movement between altitudes, languages, and cultures that my vocation has been built: to understand what binds or separates humans, to decipher the powers and resistances that make and unmake societies, and to convey the complexity of a world as disruptive as it is fascinating.

Sociologist and anthropologist, with a doctorate from EHESS and a lecturer position, I work at the intersection of fundamental research and applied social sciences. My work combines empirical field analysis, theoretical reflection, and public engagement around three structuring axes: the critical study of identity dynamics and pluralism, the analysis of contemporary political and normative transformations, and the epistemology of human and social sciences. Convinced of the scientific legitimacy of non-academic knowledge and attentive to new technologies, I also place my work within the field of digital humanities.

Called upon as a consultant and expert by multilateral organizations, international foundations, and academic institutions in Africa, Europe, and the Americas, I have led research-action programs in fourteen countries and managed budgets representing several million dollars. As a sociopreneur in various fields and as a freelancer, I extend the same intellectual rigor beyond the university walls: an active, reality-based, and resolutely heuristic approach to thought.
