About Philipp

Hi, I'm Philipp – an expert in Human Factors, XR technologies, and user-centered design.

Even during my studies (M.Sc. Human Factors Engineering), I was fascinated by the question of how technology can be made more intuitive and safer. I deepened this interest during my PhD at the Technical University of Munich, where I specialized in the development and validation of Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) environments in traffic research. For my work on improving pedestrian traffic safety, I was awarded the Joseph Ströbl Prize by the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior in 2023 – a confirmation of the relevance of my research.

In addition to my academic work, I have always enjoyed engaging in knowledge transfer, whether through the conception and leadership of the course "Virtual Reality in Human Factors Research" or as a technical author to promote ergonomic standards in VR and AR technologies.

Today, I bring my passion for innovation and human-centered design to proband15 GmbH as a co-founder. Together with my team, I support projects that focus on the optimal connection between technology and people. My approach combines classic UX/UI methods with modern tools from Data Science as well as Virtual and Augmented Reality to develop products and services that are not only functional but also inspiring.

I look forward to working with you to turn ideas into reality!

Virtual Personas: Making Complex Data Tangible
    BANKING AND INSURANCE
    April 2023 - October 2023 (7 months)
    München, Germany
For DrivenBy GmbH – a data-driven innovation spin-off of Allianz – I developed a method to intuitively and tangibly convey target group data. Instead of static personas, I created an immersive solution where users can experience virtual personas in their living environment.

Using Virtual Reality (VR), fictional living spaces are designed that offer insights into the personas' lives and behavioral patterns. From furnishings to personal details like consumption habits or hobbies – every element conveys relevant information. These are complemented by animated sequences with face and body capture technology to vividly portray the personas' concerns, goals, and emotions.

The project combines data-based persona generation, VR production, and innovative display technologies to provide interdisciplinary teams with an intuitive foundation for productive decision-making processes.

Customer Experience for Drone Flights in Virtual Reality
    RESEARCH
    January 2023 - April 2023 (4 months)
    Ingolstadt, Germany
Together with the Technical University of Ingolstadt, I developed a Virtual Reality Experience to simulate the future customer journey of drone flights. The VR application allows test subjects to realistically experience a complete journey from boarding through the flight to arrival at the destination terminal.

The project addresses key questions about designing the customer experience for air taxis, such as check-in processes, onboard services, and baggage handling. The virtual environment includes detailed vertiports at Ingolstadt Nordbahnhof and Munich Airport, as well as a realistically designed drone interior. A special highlight: Passengers experience the flight route through 360° video recordings of an actual flight.

The simulation provides a basis for user studies and ensures that passenger needs are incorporated into the development of future mobility solutions today. The project combines innovative technologies with a user-centered perspective, thus contributing to the mobility of the future.

Digitization of Munich Cemeteries – Cemetery App
    PUBLIC SECTOR
    May 2022 - December 2022 (8 months)
    München, Germany
For the Munich Municipal Cemeteries, my team and I developed an innovative app that elevates the cemetery visit to a new digital dimension. With Augmented Reality (AR) navigation, users can precisely locate graves, discover available burial plots, and experience the cemeteries from new perspectives through geolocation-based audio tours.

The central focus was on developing a digital process for purchasing graves. Using interviews and user tests, a user-friendly solution was created that allows interested parties to select burial plots based on criteria such as location, price, or surroundings in advance – whether from home or on-site. The app thus supports the analog sales process without replacing it.

Through iterative user studies with prototypes, the design and functionality were continuously optimized. The project combines technology, human-centered design, and innovative usage concepts to enable a new way of experiencing Munich's cemeteries.
