Nikola Cindric

For five intense years (from 2016 to 2021) within the editorial team of Libération, I worked as a graphic editor in a demanding environment. Every day in the layout department, I worked at the pace of current events, in close collaboration with passionate journalists, in an atmosphere of collective reflection and constant exchange.

Beyond designing the pages, I actively participated in the front-page meetings, a key moment of the daily newspaper where the headlines and visual angle for the next day's edition are decided in a collegial atmosphere. Libération is known for its wit on the front page as well as in its articles, and I had the opportunity to contribute to this stylistic exercise, where form meets content. These brainstorming sessions taught me to sharpen my ideas, defend graphic choices, listen, and argue.

The pace was demanding, often outside of regular hours, but in this intense routine, no two days were exactly alike. It required adaptation, quick thinking, reactivity, and sometimes even taking a stance, with accuracy (as much as possible) and subtlety (not always).

Working at Libération meant living almost exclusively for the newspaper, but it also meant learning to be fast without being sloppy, creative without losing sight of the editorial line, and reactive without forgetting the intention. A total experience, both graphic, human, and intellectual.

Development of an elegant and impactful layout, respecting the brand's universe while offering a coherent and refined graphic identity. Production monitoring and correction management to ensure editorial flow and visual quality. A demanding task, delivered under tight deadlines.

Art direction and layout design for a jazz music monthly magazine, with a strong and recognizable visual identity. Graphic creation and clear layout to enhance editorial content. Creation of portraits, features, and concert photos, providing impactful and authentic visuals. Work combining rigor and creativity, which increased the magazine's attractiveness and strengthened its image with readers and advertisers.
