Nicolas Cura

I am a freelance software engineer specializing in the design and development of custom web applications and internal systems, from the ideation phase to deployment and production operation. I primarily work on high-value-added projects where specific business needs cannot be met by standard solutions.

My expertise is mostly full-stack, with a strong emphasis on backend and architecture. I work with Rust and the Leptos web framework, which allows me to build performant, reliable, and long-term maintainable applications. I also assist my clients in automating their business processes through custom workflows to improve their operational efficiency.

I manage the entire technical chain, including infrastructure and cloud operations. I self-host services on IaaS infrastructure (Infomaniak), deployed with NixOS to ensure declarative, reproducible, and robust configuration. I have implemented complete monitoring and observability stacks (Grafana, VictoriaMetrics, VictoriaLogs, Alertmanager), as well as tools ensuring high availability, security, and scalability (Traefik, Consul, Kanidm).

Among my achievements, I designed a wine tour booking platform for a Bordeaux-based company, and a real estate management intranet for administering properties, units, and partner sales. I have also experienced technical failures, notably overly ambitious architectural choices in the short term, which taught me to better balance innovation, simplicity, and business constraints.
