About Nicolas

Engineer and researcher in robotics and computer vision, I leverage 12 years of experience to serve industrial automation and the development of custom robotic solutions. I assist my clients from design to implementation, combining scientific and technical innovation with industrial pragmatism.

I can help you to:
  • Develop complete robotic systems with control algorithms, industrial vision, and AI.
  • Design computer vision systems for object detection, defect detection, or object localization and sizing.
  • Transform innovative concepts into proofs of concept and operational solutions.
  • Integrate advanced visual servoing and predictive control algorithms into your existing systems.
My added value: a dual research + industry skill set, acquired at Inria and consolidated by the creation of my startup Virobotic, which has delivered complete robotic solutions for various clients.

Project types: mobile and industrial robotics, workstation automation, computer vision, heterogeneous product manipulation, inspection and quality control systems.

Based in Amiens, I can work in Paris with a hybrid setup including remote work days.

Experience

  • Virobotic
    CEO & Tech Leader
    TECH
    September 2019 - November 2025 (6 years and 2 months)
    Amiens, France
Co-founder and CEO of Virobotic, I led the development of robotic and computer vision solutions for the automation of low-value-added workstations, targeting the logistics, mass retail, agri-food, and medical sectors. The company designed tailor-made solutions with a strong R&D component, integrating robotics, vision, artificial intelligence, mechatronics, and human-machine interfaces.

Beyond my management responsibilities, I was directly involved on the technical side, contributing to software development and computer vision/AI algorithms, system architecture choices, and the integration of robotic sub-assemblies, with particular attention to industrial and operational constraints.

I led a multidisciplinary team with expertise in robotics, vision, AI, electronics, mechanics, and software. I provided technical supervision, coordinated work, defined technological directions, and validated developments across all projects, systematically adopting an agile approach.

    Examples of projects completed:
    • Order picking robots (supermarket click-and-collect, agri-food).
    • Robots for handling heterogeneous crates and boxes for logistics.
    • Robot for automating product injection workstations.
    • Advanced vision systems for quality control (cultural products, agri-food products).
    • Visual recognition system for thousands of surgical instrument references.

  • Inria
    Researcher & Innovation Transfer Engineer
    RESEARCH
    October 2013 - August 2019 (5 years and 10 months)
    Rennes, France
For six years at Inria, I combined advanced research in robotics and computer vision with technology transfer missions to industry.

My thesis (2013–2016) focused on predictive control for multi-task execution in visual servoing, validated by international publications (ICRA, IROS).

In parallel, I worked as a Transfer and Innovation Engineer: identifying industrial needs, developing robotic proofs of concept, and supporting partners in implementing complex automated solutions.

This dual research + industrial application expertise naturally led to the creation of my startup, Virobotic, dedicated to the industrialization of robots for logistics, agri-food, and quality control.
