🔍 Context:

During outreach patrols and contact points with homeless individuals, many of them, of foreign origin, encounter difficulties expressing themselves in French. Beyond material aid (food, clothing), these individuals have an essential need for listening, speaking, and recognition.

🧠 My role:

• Ensure real-time interpretation between volunteers and non-French speakers (mainly Syrians, Egyptians, and North Africans).

• Create a trusting relationship by translating not only words but also emotions and deep needs expressed.

• Facilitate access to available aid (medical, social, psychological) by removing language barriers.

💡 Impact:

• Richer and more authentic exchanges between volunteers and beneficiaries.

• Better understood, directed, and supported individuals.

• A restored human dimension thanks to the voice given to those who did not yet speak it in French.

🎯 Mission: Specialized translation of two medical works – Hepatitis C & Diabetes

• Context: INALCO final thesis project

• Languages: Standard Arabic ⇄ French

• Volumes:

🔍 Objective:

To carry out a faithful, clear, and terminologically rigorous translation of two medical works intended for health professionals, as part of a validated university thesis.

🧠 My approach:

• Comparative analysis of medical terms in Arabic/French to ensure accuracy.

• In-depth documentary research (WHO, specialized dictionaries, hospital glossaries).

• Proofreading by a medical reviewer for scientific validation.

• Respect for original layouts, footnotes, and structure.

✅ Result:

• Translations validated with honors in the university setting.

• Proven ability to handle complex medical texts.

• Solid terminological base reusable for future professional assignments.

🌍 Mission: Liaison interpreter for asylum seekers – Arabic dialectal and literary ⇄ French

• Organization: Planète Sans Frontière

• Languages: Sudanese Arabic, Syrian, Egyptian, Literary Arabic ⇄ French

• Setting: Volunteer – support for asylum seekers

🔍 Context:

As part of its support for asylum seekers, the association Planète Sans Frontière organizes meetings, interviews, and administrative follow-ups. Many beneficiaries do not master French, which significantly complicates understanding their situation and expressing their needs.

🧠 My role:

• Act as a liaison interpreter between asylum seekers and the association's teams.

• Faithfully convey speeches, personal stories, and testimonies in a context often emotionally charged.

• Adapt my translation to different Arabic dialects (Sudanese, Syrian, Egyptian), as well as Literary Arabic depending on the case.

• Facilitation of dialogue between asylum seekers and association professionals.

• Better understanding of beneficiaries' backgrounds and needs.

• Active participation in humane and respectful support.
