About Nelson

I help B2B2C platforms, from large corporations to scale-ups, modernize and make their web and mobile products (React Native + Symfony) reliable without interrupting service, and I leave a healthy, documented foundation behind me.

For 13 years, I've been taking over existing and often complex products: upgrading React Native apps, evolving Symfony backends, reducing technical debt without rewriting everything. I cover the entire chain (mobile, web, back), so you only have one point of contact instead of coordinating multiple providers.

A common thread in my missions: I'm called in as reinforcement a few months before the first go-live, when a launch needs to be secured without delays. Combat sports, which I've been practicing and teaching for 20 years, have taught me to keep a cool head under pressure.

I work augmented by AI to deliver faster, and I bring your junior developers along for the ride. Mentoring comes from the same place: improving the team's skills is as important to me as delivering.

Some milestones:

- 7 years on the ADEO B2B2C marketplace (Quotatis / Leroy Merlin): React Native artisan mobile app built from scratch, several major migrations.

- LVMH (24 Sèvres): joined a few months before launch, website delivered in 5 months with a team of 30, then chosen to train new joiners.

- Française des Jeux (Parions Sport), reinforcement before the 2018 World Cup.

- In parallel, I'm developing Weplesi, my own proptech app (React Native + Next.js): it keeps me up-to-date on modern mobile stacks.

I've worked in teams of all sizes, from 3-5 to 20-30 developers, using SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban.

Outside of coding, I practice fencing, MMA, and a bit of weightlifting (I'm behind on my summer body).

Today, I'm looking for hybrid missions in Paris and the western Île-de-France region.

Founder of Weplesi, a proptech platform (web + mobile) for property management that connects residents, homeowners' associations, professional property managers, and management agencies.
I design and develop the product end-to-end: architecture, back-end, web, mobile, and CI/CD.

    What I built:
    • Full-stack TypeScript monorepo (Turborepo/pnpm) sharing business logic between a Next.js web app (professional spaces for managers/agencies) and a React Native/Expo mobile app (residents), with tRPC for end-to-end type safety client ↔ server.
    • Multi-tenant, multi-role: 5+ role RBAC and multi-residence management, secured by Supabase Auth + custom JWT claims and PostgreSQL Row-Level Security.
    • Business modules: incident reporting and lifecycle (deduplication, common vs. private areas, delegation to the manager), real-time news feed, announcements, push notifications.
    • Quality & industrialization: unit tests (Vitest) + blocking E2E suites (Playwright for web, Maestro for mobile) integrated into CircleCI CI/CD. Continuous deployment to Vercel, PostHog product analytics (EU, RGPD-friendly).

React / React Native / Symfony Developer

Acquired by the ADEO group (Leroy Merlin), Quotatis transitioned from a subscription-based artisan directory to a B2B2C marketplace providing qualified artisans to the group's brands, primarily Leroy Merlin.

The problem to solve: Leroy Merlin sold an in-home installation service, but each store managed the artisan search, follow-ups, and after-sales service manually.

An initial app, outsourced to an agency, existed, but its code was unmaintainable: we rebuilt everything from scratch.

Joining as a full-stack React / Symfony developer, I became part of the mobile team and rebuilt the artisan app in React Native (Expo was discarded due to incompatible libraries). This app is the core of the system: artisans use it to receive and accept their assignments. In parallel, I maintained the entire ecosystem: back-office, several web portals (lead generation, installation tracking, partner portal), a shared design system, and a backend composed of 5 Symfony microservices.

Among the projects I'm most proud of: launching the first version of the app, a customer portal with real-time artisan tracking on a map (like Uber) to see the professional arrive on-site, and a secure messaging system that connects users without revealing personal contact information. I also trained and mentored an apprentice and two individuals undergoing career changes.

7 years on the mission, an ecosystem still in production, and a network of several thousand artisans receiving their assignments via the app.

End of mission: the product, having become strategic, was brought back in-house by Leroy Merlin teams.

Contextual figures (public): network ~4,000 artisans (2021) to ~5,600 (2023). Quotatis revenue and app rating not publicly verified. Sources: LSA, SDBpro, La Revue du Digital, Google Play.

Complete overhaul of the online sports betting website, both technically and graphically, for the 2018 World Cup, with a non-negotiable deadline: kickoff. The challenge: handle the biggest betting peak of the year, for millions of users per day. To put the scale in perspective, the 2018 World Cup generated a record €690 million in wagers in France, double that of 2014, with €67 million on the France-Croatia final alone.

On the Symfony backend side, I worked on real-time odds retrieval, the search engine for finding sports or matches, and especially the optimization of the API cache and performance to handle the load. I also integrated widgets (developed in Angular) into the Twig front-end.

Result: the redesign was delivered on time, and the website handled the load throughout the competition, including peak times during France's matches.

Contextual figures (public, verified): 2018 World Cup = record €690 million in wagers in France (double that of 2014), including €67 million on the France-Croatia final. Source FDJ / ARJEL via franceinfo, France Bleu.
