About Michel

Composer for the screen, I develop music with a strong identity for films where music plays a structuring role in the narrative and sound balance, and where the musical writing can, when the project requires it, extend towards more immersive forms close to sound design, resonating with contemporary practices of the profession.

I also design sound universes for immersive devices (escape games, artistic installations, interactive exhibitions, museographic tours, video mapping, live performances, concept stores, immersive restaurants), conceived to dialogue with the space and shape the audience's experience.

La mort dans la main (Fiction)
    FILM AND AV
    December 2024 - January 2025 (1 month)
La mort dans la main, directed by Jim Stayne, is a black and white short film inspired by the spirit of classic film noir.
Created for the 15th edition of the Nikon Film Festival, it was later officially selected at the Seoul International Extreme Short Image & Film Festival.
The film pays homage to the cinema of Alfred Hitchcock — and, by extension, to the music of Bernard Herrmann.
Entirely silent, the film contains no dialogue or sound design; its sound universe relies exclusively on my original music. Inspired by iconic soundtracks from the 1950s and 1960s, the music blends short motifs, dynamic rhythmic cells, and a deliberate preference for dissonance over melody.
As music plays a central role in the film's narrative and emotional structure, I spent several weeks listening to film noir soundtracks to absorb their atmosphere, rhythm, and stylistic language.

    Cadre deux vies
    FILM AND AV
    February 2025 - March 2025 (1 month)
Cadre deux vies is a stop-motion short film directed by Florian Duchassin for the May 2025 edition of Kino Lyon, where it won 3rd place in the Audience Award. The film was later selected for the Fréjus Short Film Festival 2026.
Inspired by the world of painting and poetic narrative, the film is accompanied by an original composition I wrote, with the piano at the heart of the music, following the visual rhythm with sensitivity and intimacy.
Through the encounter of two souls and the amazed gaze of childhood, this short film explores how Art re-enchants reality. It questions our ability to preserve the magic of this world, the kind that childhood instinctively perceives. It reminds us that poetry is hidden everywhere, even in everyday life, because the extraordinary is always found in the ordinary.

    Au fil des cycles
    FILM AND AV
    April 2025 - June 2025 (2 months)
Au fil des cycles is a short film directed by Bruno Auguste, marking our second collaboration after Rêve de Gosse.
The film was selected for the Chevreuse Valley Film Festival 2025, with the theme Metamorphosis, and the lead actor won the Best Male Performance Award.
With this project, Bruno Auguste and I sought to develop a distinct musical identity that connects all their collaborations, building on the foundations laid in their first film together, while adapting to the specific needs of Au fil des cycles.
The first part of the film contains no music, allowing silence to highlight the emotional distance between the characters. As their relationship develops, music gradually emerges and remains present until the end, echoing the bond that forms between them.
Presented as a seven-track album, the soundtrack includes five pieces featured in the short film, each reflecting the emotional landscape of the main female character, while two bonus tracks extend the musical universe. One of these tracks is the music the main male character listens to in a scene midway through the film, and the other is a 16-bit reinterpretation of the end credits theme.
