At Medappoint, a healthcare appointment platform in Kenya, I served as a co-founder, product manager, and frontend developer. I led the development of a user-friendly web application designed to connect patients with healthcare practitioners efficiently.

In my role as Product Manager, I handled feature planning, user research, and product refinement, ensuring the platform addressed real user needs. As a frontend developer, I built the interface using the MERN stack, integrated Redux for state management, and optimized search functionality for a smoother user experience.

During this time, I successfully launched the MVP, designed the platform’s UI/UX in Figma, and collaborated closely with my team to iterate based on user feedback. Our work enabled clinics to promote their services and allowed patients to easily search, filter, and book medical appointments online.

At PetsHelpful, I was brought on as a freelance DevOps engineer to improve the performance, reliability, and deployment efficiency of their backend systems. I led the successful migration and configuration of their backend infrastructure to DigitalOcean servers, utilizing Nginx to optimize performance—resulting in a 30% improvement in response time and enhanced scalability.

I also established a robust CI/CD pipeline, significantly reducing deployment time and minimizing manual errors in the development cycle. Additionally, I developed automation scripts to streamline repetitive backend operations, saving the team time and ensuring greater consistency across deployments.
