About Maxime

I do part-time contracts and freelance missions in video games, mainly as a consultant and tech lead.

This activity is parallel to my two main activities, which are tech lead at Gather, a scale-up based in the USA, as well as directing Shuffle Tactics, a deckbuilding Tactical-RPG published on Steam by Dotemu, with the studio I founded in Paris.

My work within the two video game studios I founded has allowed me to develop my skills in most areas involved in video game development, whether it's development, design, game design, SDK integration, cross-platform code and bindings, tooling, working with network systems, translation, monetization design, community management, as well as marketing and UA.

With a Master's degree in software development, I had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best Java developers in the world (working on the language & the JVM), as well as to improve my skills in C#, C++, JS, and Python. My training also specialized me in image synthesis and processing (GPGPU, AR, VR, mathematics applied to images, etc.) and I was able to develop my knowledge in project design, project management, code architecture, algorithms, and optimization.

I have now been working full-time in gamedev for 10 years, both through the studio's in-house projects and through my freelance contracts, and I am always looking for new opportunities to broaden my horizons. My position at Gather also allows me to expand my managerial and engineering skills, particularly in everything related to the Web and Phaser, as I am in charge of the visual rendering of the tool.

My current preferences are Unity and web gamedev via Phaser 3.

Club Sandwich is my second video game studio, where we are working on Shuffle Tactics, a deckbuilding tactical RPG published by Dotemu/The Arcade Crew and planned for 2025.

This is an opportunity for me to tackle a much larger scope than the projects of my previous studio, with the project involving over twenty talents.

I perform tech lead and producer tasks there, and handle the game design and decision-making aspects.

Gather is a fully customizable virtual office, where companies can create their virtual premises, with real-time synchronization with other employees and management of microphone and webcam for video calls.

I joined Gather's game engine/product team to help lead the transition to the Phaser engine. I had the opportunity to work on the game engine that supports the tool, and then transitioned to a tech lead and product manager role for the new office creation tool.
