Matthias Thiel

Since October 2024, I have been working as a flight attendant for Lufthansa. After an intensive multi-month training in areas such as Safety & Emergency Procedures, Intercultural Communication, Service Excellence, and basic medical care, I am now deployed on short- and long-haul flights.

In my role as a host on board, I combine service orientation, empathy, and clear communication – even in challenging situations. I work in a team every day, take responsibility for passenger safety, and contribute to ensuring that people from all over the world feel comfortable and safe on board.

The job as a flight attendant allows me to work in a flexible part-time model – and in parallel, to contribute my expertise from over ten years of professional experience in product, brand, and innovation management as a freelancer.

In addition to my consulting work, I run two thematic blogs:

Pinguin Ecotrips (www.pinguin-ecotrips.de) focusing on sustainable travel in Europe by train & ferry – including SEO-optimized content, affiliate strategy, and social media integration – and Reise mit Simba (www.reisemitsimba.com), a blog about traveling and living with a rescue dog. I combine both projects with content creation, understanding of target audiences, and data-driven development.

Since the beginning of 2023, I have been working as a freelance tour guide for various tour operators in Europe.

My role includes on-site organization, group leadership, crisis management, local coordination, and conveying information with empathy, overview, and enthusiasm.

Working as a guide has sharpened my perspective on people, viewpoints, and narratives – skills that I also incorporate into my consulting work in customer insights and innovation.
