Manuel Braun

A graduate of the Beaux-Arts in Aix-en-Provence, Manuel Braun, born in Geneva in 1980, is a Franco-Swiss photographer.

His portraits of artists, writers, politicians, and philosophers, published in the most prestigious French and international magazines, reveal a very cinematic approach to photography and a great technical mastery of light and atmosphere.

Manuel Braun also undertakes personal projects. During his residency at the French Institute of Egypt in Alexandria, he carried out a photographic project in collaboration with the Ivorian dancer Jean-Paul Méhansio, a dreamlike narrative of a city in perpetual metamorphosis. In Paris, he has undertaken several projects on societal issues, such as the intergenerational question in the project "Yesterday Will Be Better," a project combining sound recording and images in the form of a short film in partnership with the city of Saint Denis, or "En corps et encore" in 2019 and "Intérieurs" in 2020, both projects involving our elders. One of his latest projects, "T-Girls," a series on the themes of transgender identity and femininity, was screened during the "Nuit de L’Année" in Arles in 2018 at the Rencontres Photographiques.
