About Mahdiyeh

Hello,
I am an Assistant Professor at ENSAM and a researcher specializing in virtual reality (VR), artificial intelligence, EEG, XR, and human-computer interaction. I support companies, laboratories, and start-ups looking to develop or improve their immersive projects by providing scientific, methodological, and technical expertise.

Thanks to my experience in designing experimental protocols, analyzing stress and cognitive load, UX evaluation, and developing VR environments, I can help you to:

Structure and secure your VR/AI projects with a solid scientific approach

Design and test realistic and effective immersive experiences

Implement evaluation methods (EEG, physiological measures, UX)

Optimize learning, training, or the design of immersive interfaces

Analyze your data and produce clear, actionable reports

My added value: I combine academic expertise (research, publications, rigorous protocols) with a concrete, project-oriented approach to meet the needs of companies and technical teams.

Types of projects I can support:
– VR training & immersive learning
– Neuroergonomics / neurotechnologies (EEG, stress, presence)
– UX & user testing in virtual reality
– Digital Twins
– AI applied to immersive environments
– Prototype design and evaluation methodologies
– Scientific support or consulting on complex XR projects

I am open to short-term missions, one-off collaborations, or ongoing support.
Feel free to contact me to discuss your project.

  • Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté (UBFC)
    Scientific Collaborator – VR/Neuroscience Project
    September 2020 - September 2023 (3 years)
    Dijon, France
Design and evaluation of an immersive virtual reality environment based on visuo-motor conflict.
Development of an adaptive audio system generated in real-time according to the user's movement frequency.
Scientific contribution: experimental protocol, data analysis, EEG, UX, and presence measurements, writing research reports.

  • Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS,
Scientific Collaborator – VR/Stress & Immersive Audio Project
    December 2022 - December 2023 (1 year)
    Malaysia
Creation and development of a virtual reality environment representing a chaotic city to model, induce, and measure stress in users in an immersive situation.
The project's objective was to understand how different sensory elements—particularly urban audio—influence stress, cognitive load, emotional perception, and the sense of presence in an immersive environment.

In this context, I designed an adaptive audio system that can modify sound characteristics (density, intensity, directionality) in real-time based on user behavior or state. This system was integrated into the VR environment to precisely study the impact of auditory stimuli on physiological and subjective responses.

    🔍 Key Responsibilities:

Design of the complete experimental protocol (VR, audio, physiological measures, questionnaires)

Setup of a realistic and optimized VR environment to induce controlled stress

Integration of immersive audio signals and creation of an adaptive system based on user behavior

Data collection and analysis (stress, EEG, physiological responses, behavior, UX)

Evaluation of presence, engagement, cognitive load, and user comfort

Statistical processing, data visualization, detailed reports

Production of recommendations for improving complex VR environments, particularly for training, simulation, or psychophysiological research

    🎯 Project Objective

Understand how the combination of VR + immersive audio can modulate stress and improve the design of immersive environments, with a view to applications in training, safety, psychology, and neuro-ergonomics.

    International Collaboration
    January 2024 - Today (2 years and 5 months)
Within this international collaboration, I also supervise two PhD students working on virtual reality, neuroscience, and the analysis of cybersickness and interaction models in immersive environments.
We are jointly exploring advanced approaches based on EEG, optic flow, AI, and adaptive systems to better understand cognitive and emotional responses in complex VR environments.

Recently, I also secured MyTIGER Malaysia funding, a program supporting the development of innovative technological solutions. This funding strengthens our research activities, allows for the acquisition of specialized equipment, and advances us towards concrete applications in immersive training, operational safety, and psychophysiological analysis.
