Lucie Langston

Lucie Langston is an illustrator and comic artist. She works digitally, autobiographically, and politically. She studied Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz, where her bachelor's thesis was supervised by Ulli Lust. Her autobiographical short graphic novel "Through the Dunes" was published in The New York Times in 2020. This work was honored by the Art Directors of the NYT as "one of the best Illustrations of the year 2020", with the Rhineland-Palatinate Design Award, and with a golden nail from the Art Directors Club, Germany. Among others, she has worked for Die Zeit, Reportagen Magazin, Gunda Werner Institute of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, etc.

Lucie Langston is a nonbinary illustrator and comic artist based in Europe. Langston graduated from the University of Applied Sciences Mainz, Germany, with a Bachelor's degree in Communication Design, which she passed with distinction. During girlhood, drawing was her escapism and later became her voice to reflect life. Being influenced by women of illustration emerging from “Neue Mainzer Schule” and inspired by Ulli Lust, a detailed, often atmospheric yet thought-provoking style developed.
