Revenue Assurance for one of Canada's largest e-commerce brands: Increasing stability through monitoring, redundancy, and automated smoke testing

IDrinkCoffee, one of Canada's largest e-commerce brands and a leader in coffee and espresso machines, relied on my expertise to keep their platform stable and reliable. As a lead developer of a team, I guided the implementation of monitoring, redundancy, and automated user flow tests to sustainably secure multi-million dollar business results.

I developed comprehensive measures, including real-time monitoring, automated tests with GitHub Actions and Cypress, and redundancy systems that ensure operation even during outages. We also built special deployment pipelines to enable quick transitions to fallback systems, even during provider disruptions.

Through these proactive approaches, such as anticipating potential incidents and creating detailed incident response plans, I was able to ensure the platform remained virtually downtime-free. These measures led to increased customer satisfaction, revenue protection, and improved brand perception for IDrinkCoffee.

    ENERGY AND UTILITIES
    June 2022 - October 2024 (2 years and 4 months)
I led a development team in building Noa Climate's platform, including complex animations and a multilingual, modular design to support their sustainability mission.

A central aspect of the project was building a custom CMS based on Sanity, which allows a high degree of flexibility and control, and through modularity enables complex new pages and adjustments without requiring new development work.

The platform includes complex animated elements that required deep technical work to ensure smooth performance and fast loading times despite complex moving visual content.

Another focus was the development of a custom FAQ section with a filter and category system, which can also be easily expanded by the client.

Additionally, a live preview system for the CMS was built. We built a solution using Sanity's new 'Preview Kit', significantly improving the editing experience.

Upon request, I can provide a technical article describing the process.

The result is a dynamic, scalable platform that captures the core of Noa Climate's mission – supporting their business goals and commitment to environmental sustainability.

    Tech Stack:

    CMS: Sanity

Frontend: Gatsby.js, Custom animations with Framer Motion, Lottie, and SVG transitions

Backend: Vercel, Serverless Functions, Hubspot, Mux for optimized video performance

E-commerce for kattbjoern: Headless Shopify, Gatsby.js, Analytics & Ad Tracking, Maintenance, Digital Advertising, and Conversion Optimization
    E-COMMERCE
    January 2021 - Today (5 years and 5 months)
For kattbjoern, one of Germany's best-known backpack brands, I led the conception, development, and testing of a comprehensive headless Shopify setup, built with Gatsby.js, React, JavaScript, and Netlify. This project not only ensured e-commerce performance and user experience but also maintained 100% platform availability over many years.

    The project included:

    A complete headless Shopify store.
The setup of Google Analytics, Google Ads, TikTok, and Facebook tracking with Consent Mode via Google Tag Manager for data compliance and accurate insights.
Several redesigns and the development of new features to optimize user experience and conversion rates.
A custom conversion tracking system to measure the effectiveness of marketing strategies (including server-side tracking).
Performance optimizations such as the use of Mux for videos and AVIF for images to ensure faster loading times.
The conception, development, and testing of cross-selling and upselling modules to increase average order value and boost revenue.
Automated testing for continuous platform reliability and smooth deployments.
Additionally, I developed discount systems and pre-order campaigns tailored to kattbjoern's business needs, supporting their mission of continuous innovation.

I continue to play an important role in the platform's digital marketing and have worked closely with Google representatives to ensure kattbjoern's marketing strategies align with best practices and deliver measurable business results.

This collaboration has created a robust and scalable platform that ensures long-term success, higher customer satisfaction, and a strategic focus on maximizing conversions and e-commerce growth.
