As a Fractional CTO, I help medium-sized companies get out of firefighting mode and back into control: Strategy, Architecture, Delivery Capability. Not just slides and recommendations - I take responsibility for the implementation.

15+ years of engineering, 10+ years of leadership. I know the engine room of software development and connect it with what the business actually needs.

The typical trigger: Either there's no dedicated technical leadership at all - or it's so bogged down in day-to-day operations that strategic foresight falls by the wayside. Both cost time and money without showing up in reports. The same pattern with AI: a lot of pressure, but little clarity on where it's truly worthwhile.

I tackle this in two ways: I take on the CTO role where there isn't one - or I strengthen your existing leadership as a sparring partner. Which approach is right depends on your situation.

What I specifically work on:

Reality Check: Honestly assess system landscape and architecture - and identify the risks that others overlook.
Delivery Capability & Flow: Set up structures and processes so that teams can deliver again - measurably, not just by word of mouth.
Control: Accompany architecture decisions, manage service providers, bring the roadmap down to earth.
AI with Grounding: assess where AI is truly beneficial, empower teams (gladly with specialists), and turn experiments into reliable operations - instead of just another PoC in the drawer.
People: Develop Engineering Managers and Team Leaders - instead of overloading the best developer by making them a leader on the side.

I work one to two days a week, usually for extended periods, and take responsibility for the results.
