Christophe Lécot

Creator of paper theaters, papier-mâché masks for theater, papier-mâché puppets. I sometimes assist children in building costumes or objects made of... papier-mâché. It's important to understand that this activity involves getting your hands dirty with glue and working with wet paper as much as possible to create painted sculptures that are both solid and lightweight. I also paint recessed portraits, not from a model, on papier-mâché plates made of many superimposed layers of glued paper. Without offering a detailed analysis of this work, understand that from masks to puppets, through this painting, my artistic questioning explores identity and the construction of the individual. However, my artistic project also leads me to be a game author: an author of independent tabletop role-playing games – in the language of Shakespeare – which I illustrate myself.
