Following my very successful experience at Altice as a Linux Cloud OPS manager, I wanted to deepen my knowledge of Linux and improve as a trainer before returning to Cloud administration.

Tasks

My main task was related to the setup of various types of servers. Primarily the setup of web servers, all administered automatically with Ansible and Vagrant. The servers were set up on an "on-premise" infrastructure virtualized with the VMware solution.

My second task within the team was to provide training through my experience as a user of cloud solutions and infrastructure as code. Notably, training on the GIT tool and the implementation of best practices for the quality of Ansible code and GIT history.

Implementation of hardening policies for CentOS 7/8 and creation of playbooks to automate the implementation of directives from documents provided by CIS Benchmark.

As a contractor, I also transcribed all my knowledge related to the different projects I led and participated in into documentation.

Within the OPS team at Altice France, I participated in the development and production deployment of their new cloud-native CMS: Cléo.

- Creation of infrastructure as code with Terraform (in the form of workspace/module)

- Creation of a continuous integration pipeline, as part of an immutable server infrastructure (Packer, Ansible, AWS CodeSuite, Terraform)

- Integration with developers of Lambdas on AWS

- Implementation of monitoring for the Image part of the application with Datadog

- Preparation for the migration of the old application to the new one (load tests: vegeta, observation of application behavior, problem-solving, and implementation of monitoring probes)

- Implementation of log integration within Datadog

Following a first two-year contract with the company, we started a one-year contract as a system administrator.

This new contract covered two projects to be completed during the year:

- The redesign of a test bench in Bash capable of performing load tests on WI-FI routers.

- The automation of our system infrastructure deployment with the creation of an Ansible playbook to set up a MariaDB database infrastructure clustered with GaleraDB.

With the redesign of the test bench, we gained access to new information about the routers, which allowed us to fix bugs.

I therefore worked with our English-speaking software developer on the design of new versions.
