Karim Benmessaoud

I lead Kokolab, a platform that connects project leaders, skills, and entrepreneurs to foster collaboration and innovation. My role encompasses defining the vision, managing the team, as well as strategic development, communication, and the technical aspect of the ecosystem.

As the founder of Valcara, I was inspired by a deep passion for sustainability and a growing concern about the environmental impact of the clothing industry. I observed that while trail running is a discipline in harmony with nature, the clothing associated with this sport did not always reflect this commitment to the environment. This is how Valcara was born, an initiative dedicated to selling trail running apparel made from recycled polyester and fully recyclable. This project taught me a great deal about business management, from conceptualizing an idea to its actual implementation. I gained a deep understanding of the challenges related to sustainable production, from sourcing ethical suppliers to educating consumers about the benefits of eco-responsible products. As a founder, I also developed essential skills in leadership, team management, and strategic decision-making. One of the most valuable lessons was the importance of staying true to one's vision while remaining adaptable to unforeseen circumstances and new opportunities. Valcara's nomination, along with four other projects, for the Social and Environmental Impact award at the "Entrep's Pays de la Loire" was a recognition of our commitment to making a positive difference in the world, and it remains one of my proudest moments as a founder.
