As a practitioner and trainer in philosophical practice, I facilitate Socratic dialogues, a method of philosophical intervention designed to help teams reflect together on organizational issues. My role is to create a structured and supportive framework that encourages critical exchange, clarification of ideas, and mutual understanding, in order to strengthen collaboration and improve collective decision-making.
Specifically, the practice of a Socratic dialogue takes place in three stages:
1. Triggering element: the activity begins with an introductory exercise that immerses the group in a specific theme or issue, stimulating reflection and participation.
2. Production and selection of a central question: participants jointly identify the most relevant questions they wish to work on, ensuring that the dialogue is directly linked to their concrete concerns.
3. Collaborative research: guided by the facilitator, team members collectively explore the chosen question, develop their ability to deliberate together, and experiment with more effective ways of communicating and collaborating. The benefits are immediately apparent in the exchanges: greater clarity, fewer misunderstandings, and better team cohesion.
