About Julien

Graduated as a Computer Engineer from UTC in 2013, I started as an IT consultant in the Paris region on various projects, focusing on evolutionary software maintenance, primarily in object-oriented development and R&D. I then had the opportunity to undertake a VIA contract in Hanoi, Vietnam, for IRD, where I held a role halfway between an engineer and a researcher.
Also passionate about travel (over 50 countries visited, including 7 where I lived), I recently decided to become a self-employed entrepreneur to combine work and passion.
I have been working for a main client, Optimetriks, since early 2018, where I hold a tech lead role, balancing management and technical responsibilities. I am in charge of an international team of about ten developers to develop a cross-functional B2B application for coordinating field forces in developing countries. At the intersection of BI, artificial intelligence, and a strong need to integrate with current applications, this ambitious project has led me to tackle numerous technical and business challenges.

What I can offer:
My experience at Optimetriks has provided me with very strong full-stack web development skills, primarily in Typescript/ReactJS/NodeJS. Having managed a multi-terabyte Postgres database since then, I have no secrets regarding data architecture and optimization issues on Postgres and other DB technologies. I also work on GCP, where I can utilize the latest backend technologies such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Helmfile...
But beyond my technical skills, my main asset is my ability to communicate effectively and understand my clients' business needs.
Currently employed, but eager to pursue new challenges, I can be available after a 3-month notice period, or immediately available for ad-hoc missions.

End-of-study project, development of an interface for a Virtual Reality platform
    ENERGY AND UTILITIES
    February 2013 - August 2013 (6 months)
    Paris, France
    - Ensure the migration of a virtual reality engine to a newer version.
    - State-of-the-art review on 3D HMIs, force feedback robots, and medical simulators.
    - Development of a user interface for manipulating a virtual scene, utilizing the ergonomic specificities of the virtual reality platform.

This internship focused on a virtual reality platform designed for learning maxillo-facial surgery by gesture. I had to familiarize myself with the complex multi-agent structure of "XDE", the virtual reality engine developed by CEA, and implement several functions for modeling the virtual scene. The XDE core software was coded in C++ (coupled with numerous libraries, mainly Ogre3D). It automatically generated Python functions that I manipulated. I then created a user interface in Python, calling a high-level layer in web technologies (HTML5 and Javascript).
