About Juan Carlos

I am a business intelligence solutions specialist with over 10 years of experience. I help companies design and implement successful BI solutions, from architecture design, data modeling, ETL and ELT process design and development, data ingestion and transformation, to generating dashboards visualizing client-required indicators.

I have extensive experience developing Data Lakes, Lakehouse, and Data Warehouses using Snowflake and Databricks as data platforms, defining security policies, roles, and permissions, performing data ingestion (batch, near real-time, and real-time), and using masking policies and row-level data access policies to optimize data loading and querying.

I have participated in data governance implementation projects, defining DataOps policies, quality rules, validation methodology, and data quality control, interacting with various roles such as data owners and data stewards to assist and guide them in implementing best practices in data governance.

Process automation and RAG agent creation for AI.

List of technologies I currently work with:
- Snowflake
- Databricks
- PostgreSQL / Redis / SQL Server
- ETL Tools like SSIS / Data Factory / Talend.
- N8N.
- DBT.
- Python/ Javascript
- Azure / AWS.
- Power BI/Tableau.

Developed a Proof of Concept (POC) to test Snowflake's various ingestion types (batch, near real-time, and real-time) along with an analysis of costs, latency, and performance for storing large volumes of information. This involved configuring a development environment in Snowflake with the creation and configuration of warehouses, roles, permissions, and database objects. A stage was defined to access data from S3, S3 buckets were created along with AWS roles and policies to be visible from Snowflake, and S3 notifications were configured for near real-time ingestion using Snowflake's Snowpipe. Column-level masking policies and row-level data access policies were created. For batch ingestion, COPY was used; for near real-time ingestion, Snowpipe was used; and for real-time ingestion, a Java program was used that ingested at a rate of 60,000 records per second and bursts of 2,000 records per second via the Snowflake API. The information was stored in both tables and dynamic tables to avoid ETL processes that move data from the BRONZE to SILVER and GOLD layers. This last layer was created to enable the exploitation of the ingested information.

Good job identifying the current state of the DWH, pinpointing pain points, and proposing a solution for the future state we will implement.
