The Shift Project is a think tank working for a carbon-free economy. As a non-profit organization recognized for its public interest status and guided by scientific rigor, its mission is to inform and influence the debate on energy transition. Within a team of six people, we are developing a method for planning territorial transition that integrates physical resources (water, electricity, gas, etc.) and their uses in essential societal activities (food, housing, transport, etc.).

As a project engineer, I am involved from start to finish, from strategic thinking to report writing. I participate in defining the elements of the method and their relationships, developing a computer model simulating its effects by 2050, collecting, transforming, and analyzing territorial data, as well as producing maps and visualizations with D3.js. I am not involved in web development, but I use Typescript to create scrapers, process large volumes of data, and produce visualizations.

The General Directorate for Sustainable Development (CGDD) is a cross-functional directorate of the ministries in charge of ecology and energy, which supports the ecological transition by providing expertise in the fields of environment and sustainable development. Within the CGDD's Ecolab, I contributed to the launch of a strategic project aimed at providing territories with territorial indicators to inform their decisions and monitor their local ecological transition policies. I initiated the team's training on the technical and operational issues related to data territorialization, structured the indicator models, and provided my expertise in web development.

As the sole lead developer at Vendredi, I had complete autonomy in managing the technical team. I recruited and supervised six full-stack developers of all levels to handle cross-platform issues.

I led the implementation of an awareness module offering personal challenges to employees on social and environmental themes, designed a program system grouping content by themes for companies, and developed new reporting with indicator tracking. I also revamped the platform interface with a reusable design system, restructured the server architecture (transitioning from MVC to a feature-based organization), and implemented a customer data sharing system between our database and our business tools (via Polytomic).

In parallel, I defined the engineers' career plan, disseminated best practices to other teams, and established a continuous development and deployment cycle. This included monthly 1-on-1 meetings with each team member, a strict code review policy, continuous monitoring of front-end and back-end performance, systematic bug tracking, and living documentation (Github, Sentry, New Relic). I also developed a CI that automated unit and E2E tests, Trello workflow management, automatic platform translation into eight languages, and production deployments (Github, Heroku, Trello).
