Analysis of price changes in an AS400 ERP for the integration of electronic labels
    RETAIL (LARGE RETAILERS)
    September 2023 - January 2025 (1 year and 4 months)
    Paris, France
Amarena, IT subsidiary of the CAFOM group, is present in all overseas departments and territories (DROM-COM), particularly in Réunion, the Antilles, and New Caledonia. The group is a concessionaire for several major brands, including But and Darty, which were the primary scope of the project.

The information system is based on a legacy ERP running on IBM AS/400. Its architecture, inherited from the 1990s, made any publisher-side evolution complex and slow, especially to meet the urgent need to deploy electronic price labels.

To circumvent this constraint, I designed and developed a program capable of analyzing the AS/400 transaction logs in real-time. It monitors the price, price history, and promotion tables for all AS/400 accounts corresponding to about twenty stores across several territories.

The detected transactions are transformed, enriched, and then securely transmitted to a cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. Events are first published into an Apache Kafka-based streaming system, then persisted in a PostgreSQL database.

From this database, automated workflows orchestrated by Apache Airflow detect price changes and automatically push them to the SES Imagotag system's electronic labels.

The development phase for the entire solution took four months. Operational deployment required more time, mainly due to the implementation and harmonization of local infrastructures, particularly Wi-Fi networks in the various stores.

This architecture effectively connected a legacy ERP to a modern ecosystem, while ensuring international reliability, responsiveness, and resilience.
