I solve problems! As a freelance Project Manager and Scrum Master, I jump in whenever projects aren't finished and goals aren't being met, when staff are short-term scarce, or other acute problem situations arise.

Parental leave is about managing the first months and years with babies and toddlers and giving new arrivals a good start in life. This requires very similar skills to those needed in a project.

The big advantage of parental leave over the office is that you always get quick and clear feedback on your own performance and can adjust strategies and plans accordingly in the short term.

High level of organizational talent:My family had (and still has) four people needing to be in different places at different times, requiring a high degree of organizational talent and rigorous planning skills.

Stakeholder management:The goal should be to recognize, analyze, and involve the needs and expectations of all family members early in the planning process to identify and minimize potential risks and conflicts early on. Comprehensive communication is crucial for this.

Active listening:Children (and everyone else, for that matter) should learn to think independently and solve their own problems. However, you don't learn this skill if parents (or superiors) always dictate how things are best done. Active listening means truly listening to the other person and reflecting their ideas and feelings back without judgment. Over time, they will find their own way to the goal, whether it's building a complicated Lego tower or an innovative marketing campaign.

Strategic Planning:In a startup, long-term strategic goals must be set and, of course, the path to achieving them planned: Which topic areas are currently interesting? How many employees can I hire? How should sales figures develop? It is important to have a plan that extends beyond tomorrow and next week and perhaps even until the holidays.

Prioritization:As a founder and managing director, you are simultaneously involved in very different tasks. While I was thinking about the strategic direction of the business, I had to onboard my staff, and the tax advisor also needed a call back. And then the internet goes down. If you don't prioritize, you fall behind.

Team/Personnel Management:For the first time in my life, I had personnel responsibility for a team (3-8 people). In a small startup, it is very familial on the one hand, but on the other hand, problems must also be addressed clearly. Additionally, different employees require different approaches depending on their mindset.
