About Gaëlle

A historian by training with a Master's degree in contemporary history research, I have been working as a historical archivist for fifteen years. I also hold a degree in criminology (University of Paris 8).

Previously a librarian-documentalist, these professional experiences in the cultural world have allowed me to develop rigorous and advanced scientific knowledge and investigation methods in historical research and genealogy.

Through the research and encounters I've had in my professional life, I have developed a particular passion for judicial sources, which are incredibly rich. I am especially fond of the miscellaneous news items from the 19th and 20th centuries, relayed by a sensationalist press that was booming at the time.

My method? I strive to describe the intricacies of the lives of the protagonists in criminal cases, whether they are accused or victims. To do this, I reconstruct the smallest details of their emotional and material lives to attempt to fully understand a crime and its perpetrator within a specific historical context.

My investigations aim for completeness, based on the consultation of various documentary resources: archives, bibliography, iconography, databases, and other research tools. This often requires prospecting in various public and private source repositories, as well as utilizing the enormous resources offered by the web today.

I approach each story as an investigation to be conducted patiently and without bias. I leave no stone unturned and follow all leads, conducting the necessary analyses to establish the most complete corpus of sources possible.
