Gabriel Bertini

Studiocanal is a company in the audiovisual sector, producing French films and series. The company has between 200 and 300 employees and is a subsidiary of the Canal+ group.

I joined the company to contribute to the Unity project, which aims to help sales teams create and manage the company's rights contracts and associated accounting. My team consisted of a Product Owner, 4 fullstack developers, and 2 QAs.

My responsibilities:

‣ Develop end-to-end features in Java and Angular to meet business needs.

‣ Implement automated tests (unit and integration) with JUnit 5 and Jest.

‣ Intervene urgently to resolve production issues by debugging and developing fixes.

‣ Deploy features developed by the team to development, testing, and production environments.

‣ Set up CI/CD pipelines for new projects.

‣ Develop internal tools in Golang to automate recurring tasks.

‣ Develop batch jobs in Golang to integrate the project with the existing information system.

‣ Optimize the response time of the project's slowest endpoints by manipulating SQL queries.

‣ Participate in team code reviews to improve the quality and robustness of the source code.

My technical contributions:

‣ Architecture and development of a calculation engine for royalties statement history.

‣ Reduction of execution time for a dozen historical queries from +20s to 3s (for the slowest).

‣ Indexing project entities on Elasticsearch for fast searches (< 1s).

‣ Integration of AI-based tools to increase project productivity and quality.

Groupama is an insurance company in France and internationally. Within Groupama, the G2S entity provides IT solutions for insurance professionals and has over 1000 employees, with an annual budget of 518 million euros.

I joined the Digital Factory Gan Assurance team to work on the Egarage project, a tool for constructing insurance quotes and invoicing for car repair shops. The team worked in agile mode (SCRUM).

My responsibilities:

‣ Develop end-to-end features in Java and Vue.js or Angular to meet business needs.

‣ Implement tests according to feature specifications in TDD with JUnit and Jest.

‣ Deploy developed features into production on a microservices and micro-frontends architecture within a complex information system.

‣ Improve the development workflow by implementing normalization scripts for code versioning.

‣ Participate in team code reviews to improve project quality.

‣ Contribute to architectural decisions and technical evolutions on the project.

My additional contributions:

‣ Development of a quote creation tool for car repair shops, accelerating quote and insurance contract construction to 5 minutes, compared to a "traditional" process taking over an hour.

‣ Improvement of API endpoint performance.

‣ Development of utility scripts in Bash with Git hooks to standardize project versioning.

GRTgaz (now NaTran) is an energy company in France, owning most of the gas transport network in the country. The company has 3300 employees and a turnover of 2.1 billion euros.

I joined the IoT Factory team at GRTgaz to work on a project to develop an IoT platform aimed at reducing maintenance time for gas transport sites located in areas without electricity and network connectivity.

My responsibilities:

‣ Develop and maintain two IoT platforms in SaaS mode using Java 8 and Java 17 (Spring Boot):

‣ A "prototyping" platform focused on connectivity in "white zones" (~100 sensors).

‣ An industrialized and scalable platform for integrating sensors from partner providers (~3000 sensors).

‣ Take over the technical lead responsibilities for the platforms after a Lead Dev's departure.

‣ Automate feature deployment using Bash scripts and Azure DevOps.

‣ Arbitrate, prioritize business needs, and plan the technical evolution of the platforms.

‣ Lead technical workshops to enable the integration of new sensors to the platforms.

‣ Provide my technical expertise on Azure services for IoT.

My additional contributions:

‣ Creation of a dedicated language to solve sensor data processing problems.

‣ Development of connectors to integrate a dozen LoRaWAN sensor models with the platform.

‣ Consulting and design of a scalable IoT platform architecture for integrating 3000 sensors.

‣ Implementation of an alerting system allowing technicians to save about ten maintenance hours per month, per technician.
