Within the logistics operation of A2B-Online, I played a crucial role in the further development of the Transport Management System (TMS), a proprietary Oracle/APEX-based application. This TMS manages the entire operational flow, including planning, shipments, email communication, and all essential interfaces.

My work focused on increasing efficiency, ensuring data integrity, optimizing application speed, implementing API interfaces, and advanced cloud and AI integration.

Technical Results & Implementations

Development of generic database components for standardization and acceleration of application development.

- Generic advanced debug and error logging

- Generation of Triggers with debug logging

- Generic API authorization.

- Configurable Gmail scanning

- Configurable Gemini document scanning

Setting up deployments directly from Git for fast and reliable releases.

Integration with Google Cloud (Gmail Watch, Google Drive) and AI tools (Gemini and OCI document understanding) for automatic processing of booking requests received via email.

Implementation of an AQ queuing system with multiple configurable queues to manage asynchronous processes.

A generic validation framework developed in PL/SQL, ready for integration with APEX screens. This ensures uniform and simple handling of error messages.

Worked on multiple systems where the 20+ year old Oracle Forms screens had to be rebuilt in Outsystems. These are applications for store employees. These applications are being replaced by Outsystems mobile and desktop applications (Wink, Bakplan, Store Genius, Schoon, Kas).

For Wink and Bakplan, development was done against existing tables in an Oracle database not generated by Outsystems. For Schoon and Kas, the entire application was built in Outsystems.

Encountered the following challenges and built solutions:

• Deliveries to databases in 1000+ stores

• Built a data import utility that sends the necessary (new) application data from 1000+ Oracle databases to Outsystems daily and merges it with existing data. The challenge here was that the models were different and the Oracle PKs consist of multiple columns, which is not possible in Outsystems.

• Built a data copy utility for copying Outsystems application data from one store to another environment.

• Built a generic Outsystems action for executing bulk DML.

• Adapted the Outsystems BDD framework to make test cases easier and faster to create.

• Built "daemons" in Outsystems using Timers and Bpt for continuously reading data from MongoDb and Kafka.

• Built an Outsystems extension in C# for reading MongoDb and Kafka data.

• Built generic (Error) logging that provides more info than standard logging.

• Built a feature toggle utility so that the 1000+ stores, which are in the new situation in a single MS SQL database, can be phased into production.

Worked on country deployments to a new CRM system. Changes in master data must be exported daily to a CRM system in Salesforce. For this, a generic export package was designed and built with which the data can be exported. The challenge here was that there were 50+ countries that could have different field mappings to Salesforce. Furthermore, the following generic applications were built:

- A data copy application for copying data to another environment.

- XML generation application for generating XML for a configured select statement.

- Compare application for comparing data and reporting differences.

- A JOB application for parallel processing of large jobs.
