Description

Initially trained in advertising, my childhood passion for machines caught up with me... Let's say I started before the Internet and home computers, then I used a multitude of languages over about thirty years (asm, BASIC, VB/VBA, C, C++, Perl, DOS batch, bash shell scripting, javascript, Python, DHTML, SQL, Flask, FRED from Framework III/IV (wink), etc.). In the very beginning, I worked in an engineering company focused on hard drive repair and all-around micro-services (for example, I installed LANtastic networks (smile), produced small custom tools, or did (sometimes attempted) data recovery). For several years now, I have essentially been a software author, meaning I am self-employed and accustomed to long-term solo projects where I have to do everything; however, I'm not a hermit; I'm much less of a burden. And if I'm here, it's because I naturally want to add freelancing to my experience!

Related note: I work equally well in French and English in writing (my code is rarely commented in French); orally, I speak better than I understand certain high-speed accents (laughter).

This development is an aborted project (but worth mentioning, because what doesn't succeed can also enrich us). I developed a YouTube/Instagram influencer search engine in Python. The front-end Web platform was written using the Flask framework. I abandoned this project after a year of coding, realizing it would be too heavy and too expensive to maintain alone (Instagram, in particular, constantly changing rules and obstacles). A great experience nonetheless!

Its currently inoperable code (to be reviewed regarding the two social networks concerned) could actually be reused in my latest project; this one, completed (C/C++ Web/CGI-oriented developed from mid-2020 to early 2022 for its 1.0) and progressively in use on a series of sites -- but it's too early to talk about it.

Shopifight Alify was a Windows/Mac desktop software that bridged the Chinese marketplace AliExpress and the e-commerce platform Shopify. It was used by over 600 dropshipping-oriented stores (e-commerce without inventory). The idea for this software came to me during a dropshipping training session I attended. Six months later, I participated in a webinar that launched the application in its barely completed fresh version 1.0 (a few cold sweats during the demo, I must admit). Three years later, I stopped developing Alify due to the arrival of free heavyweight competitors promoted by AliExpress and Shopify themselves.

Dedee was (in 2014 after two years of development) and remains the first software for authenticated ebook dedication (ePub format with and without DRM) on Windows and Mac (OS X, macOS)... For authors and publishers, of course. This achievement (maintained and still developed incrementally) is the junction of my two authorial sides (software & literary). It's also where I discovered and dove deep into wxWidgets (Dedee being written in C++ wxWidgets-based).
