Encarni López Gonzávez

I studied Hispanic Philology at the University of Almería and a master's degree in comparative literature at UNAM (Mexico). I lived in Mexico for 16 years.

I work in translation, editing, proofreading and writing as a freelancer. In Mexico, I worked with Ediciones B and Andrés Bello (2005-2010), with Rayuela (2012-2018), at the Colegio de Jalisco (2011-2012), as well as in other works (reports from the Government of Guadalajara (2010-2012), The Agency - A Global Marketing and Sales Organization (2015), advertising texts for the María Pascuala brand (2016)). In Spain, I highlight my work with the publisher Alberdania (2019-2020), Vera Content (2019-2020), Destino (2020), Deusto (2020 to the present), Yeray Ediciones (2020 to the present), the translation agency Always (2020), the literary agency Sandra Bruna (2024 to the present), among others.

I also teach. I started in Mexico, where I taught in different places, among which I highlight the University of Guadalajara (2008-2018). More recently, I teach English and Spanish as a Foreign Language classes, as a freelancer and online (Tuiza Academia de Idiomas, Profilengua, etc.).

My taste for books, and especially macabre ones, has always accompanied my professional activity (both academic and editing), so I have participated in projects linked to literature of this type (Black Novel Forum (2007-2012), Poetics of Horror - First meeting on the Necronomicon (2015)) and I have given several conferences on the subject.

Among the publications, “Salamandra, by Efrén Rebolledo: The Mexican fatal woman”, “The spider as a metaphor for the vampire in a story by Alejandro Cuevas” and “From the Gothic tradition in Hispanic American literature: ‘La granja blanca’, by Clemente Palma”. I have published the book "The Metamorphosis of the Vampire", which has seen two editions, one in 2020 by the Atlantis publishing house, and another in 2022 by Yeray Ediciones.
