About Djamel

30 years in purchasing, and constant evolution that has allowed me to see this profession from different angles.

I still remember my beginnings in the industrial sector, where purchasing was essentially focused on optimizing production costs and inventory management.

A major turning point in my career was my time in the purchasing department of the Orange group. There, I had the opportunity to work on complex, innovative, and high-visibility projects. It was during this period that I understood that purchasing is a lever for transformation. Working within this organization allowed me to see the power of purchasing in a large group, not only in terms of performance but also in terms of global strategy, inter-departmental collaboration, and long-term vision.

Then, one day, I made the leap into the banking-insurance sector, and everything changed.
Purchasing is no longer just a support function. It is now at the heart of strategy, with challenges of innovation, digital transformation, and social responsibility.

This change taught me a crucial lesson: in purchasing, as in professional life, adaptability is key. This profession requires constant evolution, questioning one's practices, and accepting to step out of one's comfort zone.

My career path, from the industrial sector to Orange's purchasing department, and then into the "banking-insurance" world, has allowed me to develop a broad vision, understand the importance of a strategic role, but also to realize that, deep down, the fundamentals remain the same: listen, understand, be honest, and think long-term.

These three decades have taught me that true strength lies in our ability to adapt and innovate, to remain curious, and never fear questioning.

The purchasing profession is constantly transforming, and that's what makes it exciting and essential.
