As the first hire of the backend team, I was in charge of defining and creating from scratch the Rex server, alongside any additional services and asynchronous workers that complement the backend application, as well as deploying and maintaining the databases, infrastructure and any other supporting system.

I worked closely with the product team to help define and scope large projects and features, from the brainstorming and early design stages to the definition of the APIs to the implementation and deployment of the features themselves. As the application grew in features and complexity, I took an active role in projects like the creation of a self-service internal backoffice portal, integrations with third party tools, creation of jobs and workers that performed different asynchronous tasks, improvements to the automation of the deployment process for different environments, and instrumentation of the codebase to improve observability and monitor resources usage.

During my time at 1 Password I led the development, from design to production deployment, of several key projects on a team that was focused on scalability, performance and resiliency of the server and its associated services.

Some of the projects I worked on include a structured logging library that improved traceability and enabled consistent logs accross all engineering teams, an AST-based API documentation generator that created openapi specs from the code itself, several internal tools that automated developer's work and optimizations of slow database queries that were impacting negatively on large customers.

I also designed and implemented the first independent service that interacted with 1 Password's server, including its own storage and data pipelines. This service enabled customers to have programmatic access to their data, using third party tools, through a public API.

I started at Bravento as an iOS developer, leading the development of the iOS application, while contributing to the design of the REST API. As time passed, I got involved in the server's development and helped to refactor the monolithic server into a microservices architecture, which enabled the development of new features while minimizing changes to the legacy application, and allowed to go to market with the new features earlier.

I also implemented a deployment pipeline for the server and all of the microservices, which previously was a manual process.
