About Diego

Developer with over 10 years of experience. I have worked in large companies such as ECISA, Grupo ASV, Embarcadero (Borland), Global Relay, and in some startups like Spotahome, where I have covered a wide range of technologies, not only in the web field but also in desktop and mobile devices.

I am currently specializing in web development for both frontend and backend (fullstack) and have participated in the complete development flow: from requirements gathering, through design and implementation with TDD, via continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD).

NewRelic (https://newrelic.com/) is a platform that focuses on infrastructure and application monitoring. It offers a large web application where clients can consult all data ingestion with an infinity of visualization types, at basic and advanced levels, allowing queries with a proprietary data query language.

My role in this company is within the design system development team. We are a platform team, we create visual components that the rest of the company's developers use to create experiences that improve our product day by day and that our clients consume.

At Global Relay, I worked as a frontend developer in the messaging area, which consists of a set of applications that the company offers to its clients, among others, that they could use for internal communication. For example: mobile lines, chat application, administration panel for the above, etc., all interconnected.

I contributed to the development of mobile line management, where clients could manage new virtual lines for their company and assign them to their phones, on a web platform built in React.

This web platform managed other areas of the product, which meant that several teams had to contribute to the same monolithic application. This led us to rethink the architecture, and therefore we divided it into microfrontends, which improved development productivity within the company as dependencies between teams were eliminated. For this, webpack's module federation was used.

The development pipeline we built was supported by Jenkins and deployed in containers using Openshift (a Kubernetes-based platform).

We embraced the TDD methodology, with unit tests and functional tests in all the development we did.

    REAL ESTATE
    June 2020 - June 2020
    Madrid, Spain
Spotahome is a 100% online rental platform. This was my journey and contribution to the company:

    Software Engineer, Frontend (Madrid):
    - I participated in the development of the owner dashboard experience. This enabled the owner to manage their properties autonomously, reducing Spotahome's costs which were previously managed by agents.
    - This dashboard was built in React and using the backend for frontend pattern. We also created a component library from a design system, which considerably reduced the development of future features.

    Software Engineer, Backend (Madrid):
    - Development of a microservice to solve the digital signature flow between the owner and the tenant. It was developed in PHP/Symfony.
    - Contributions to other microservices.
    - Use of DDD, Hexagonal Architecture, and Event Sourcing.

    Tech Lead (London):
    - When I moved to the London office, I managed the acquisition tech team, a sub-team of the "owner experience" that focused on incremental acquisition and incentivizing the supply of properties from owners to the platform.
