About Christophe

I intervene on yourLinux / Debian serverswhen they break, and before they break: rescue after incidents, security hardening, tidying up, optimization.I take back control of an infrastructure you no longer master.

A server crashing in the middle of the night, an update breaking production, backups never tested. Would you be able to rebuild your server from scratch? Do you really know what's running on it right now?

My difference: I work withPuppet**, not just for show. Each configuration is written, readable, and **belongs to you**. **If I disappear tomorrow, you continue without me.

My interventions: server and data recovery after incidents (corruption, failure, abrupt shutdown), security hardening and incident management, reliable backups, sensitive migrations, tidying up undocumented servers. Skills: Linux, Debian, Puppet (Infrastructure as Code), Nginx, PHP, MySQL, reverse proxy, Postfix, Webmin / Virtualmin.

**Django (Python) Development**: business backends and third-party system integration **via API**, such as a license manager / CRM connected to licensing and payment platforms, or a high-volume emailing tool. As I am also a sysadmin, I deploy and host what I develop, **without a third-party provider**.

Over 25 years in GNU/Linux and free software. Slackware was my first distribution, installed with a single floppy disk, downloaded bit by bit over several days. 10 years at Inria: software forge and computing cluster. My conviction: **strength comes from simplicity**.

I work exclusively under GNU/Linux, from a **workstation with fully encrypted storage**, to ensure the confidentiality of your data.

Good luck and see you soon. Christophe.

  • Récupération d'une partie XFS corrompue d'un serveur CRITIQUE
    SysAdmin, System Administration
    April 2026 - April 2026
Not everything always runs as expected.

The server (which integrates a Domino docker) is backed up, but one fine morning, after a brutal shutdown of the host server, the VM remained stuck during boot.

My client contacted me urgently, a little panicked.

The XFS repair command didn't work, but with the help of Claude (who, for once, wasn't hallucinating), I checked the manual before running the command (always check what Claude says) and finally, a magic option allowed to repair the system and restart the server.

    And then all ends well.

SysAdmin, Expert Puppet and SYSMASTER Stack Construction
    January 2025 - Today (1 year and 5 months)
Management of the entire system layer to host Prestashop, WordPress or other PHP software websites.

The focus is on system backup and security.

A double backup in a bunker is available as an option in addition to incremental backup.

Websites are isolated from each other for increased security.
System updates are performed to prevent any intrusion.

Access to the ROOT account is only possible from a fixed IP and an ultra-secure, fully encrypted workstation.

  • Développement d'un GROS gestionnaire de licence/CRM en Django
    Django/Python Development
    April 2024 - Today (2 years and 2 months)
An old application (SugarCRM) currently manages a license management system for Windows software.

The tool is central and interconnects with 3 other tools (Cleverdridge, Nalpeiron, and Domino), in addition to being accessed by client software.

Everything is written in PHP, but it all relies on a mysterious and expensive license associated with SugarCRM. The PHP code was not ultra-secure; the idea was to redo the application in Django/Python.

The application is almost ready; the client developed a part in React, and I developed the associated APIs and also the business APIs used by Nalpeiron, Cleverbridge, and Domino.

The migration will take place in two stages: first, the duplicate that serves as a sandbox for a few "test" clients, then the larger ones a bit later.

We don't have continuous deployment or unit tests; we don't really need them, but it could be improved (I'm alone on development).

However, scripts allow for easy retrieval and updating of the platform's duplicate to verify that Django restarts correctly, and then we apply it to the production duplicate and the rest.
