    Mission:

From May to September, I undertook a mission for a European company. They engaged me because their **infrastructure had been set up by a developer not specialized in infrastructure management**. Over the years, **several best practices had not been followed**. There were significant **security vulnerabilities**, such as:
    • Databases directly connected to the internet, **exposing sensitive data**. 🚨
*Lack of segmentationbetween different servers (front, back, db on the same VLAN and sometimes on the same server), facilitating **attack propagation**. 🔓
    • **Very permissive network flow control**, increasing the risk of unauthorized access and attack propagation across the network. 🔓
    • **Absence of automated backup and restore procedures**, increasing the **risk of data loss**. 💾❌
In addition to these issues, the client was hesitant to change cloud platforms and anticipated rapid growth in the coming months, requiring a scalable infrastructure.

    Achievement:

As the servers were hosted onOpenstack**, **I proposed redefining their infrastructureby correcting the aforementioned points. I used a **combination of Terraform for Infrastructure as Code and Ansible for configuration automation**. This allowed for **easier management**, potential migration, and future expansion of their infrastructure.

*Kuberneteswas not chosen as it would have added extra complexity and training costs for the team, which were not necessary to meet the client's current needs.

Concurrently, I implemented abackup policyas quickly as possible. 💾✅
